Fishing Rodeo
Papaw came down in May to see Luke play tee ball and to go to the annual Fishing Rodeo at church with us. Chip took the rodeo seriously and devised the best bait for optimal fishing. Luke won the prize for most fish caught. He even caught a big catfish!

Asbury Car Show & Auction
Our church held its annual car show and auction a couple of weeks ago. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for car watching and lots of fun. Cecil was the auctioneer for the event, which raised over $2,500 for church missions. What a success!
Aunt Doodie & Uncle Ronnie checking out the cars.
Nana and Luke enjoying some ice cream from the ice cream truck.Luke catching a ride on the Chic-fil-A train.
Pops auctioneering with help from Chip.
Check out all of the cars. Impressive!

Fishing Rodeo
Our church held its annual Fishing Rodeo today. Luke was a little bigger this year, and able to hold the rod & reel by himself. He was more interested in pulling in the line than waiting. Pops & daddy drove 20 miles round trip to buy, of all things, maggots! Apparently these and chicken livers are the choice bait. Yuk! Luke caught a fish and got the coveted award for the fish that looks most like Reverend Scott. Watching him go up to get his award was so sweet! This was a first for us as parents. We were pretty geeked out. I think Chip even had a tear in his eye.

EGGSTRAVAGANZA!!
Asbury UMC, our church, held its annual Eggstravaganza. We had to have it inside this year because it was too windy and cold outside. See all of the fun below.
Springtime Sunday Afternoon
Sunday afternoons are my favorite time because they are filled with homecooked meals, family time and fun. Last Sunday, Chip took time out on this windy day to try to help Luke fly a kite. For me, getting the kite into the air wasn't nearly as important as seeing father and son playing together. Of course, for the guys, the only thing that was important was getting that thing to fly. That's the difference between men and women. lol. After Luke went upstairs for a nap with Nana, we filled eggs for the Easter egg hunt at the church. Special times.

Pancakes with Santa
Each Christmas our church hosts "Pancakes with Santa." Luke was much more interested in the pancakes than the man in red. Even though Pops almost threw down trying to hold Luke a spot to see Kringle, Luke still wouldn't go up there! Lol.
Luke's school and church did a great job of teaching him about baby Jesus, Mary & Joseph....the reason for the season.

Sunday School Present for Mommy
Melt my heart yet again. Luke brought this keepsake, beautiful fall flower arrangement home from Sunday school. It sits in my kitchen window sill now and makes me feel giddy and so grateful to be his mom. I am grateful to be a part of a church that does so many good things for its children. I can't wait to start teaching Sunday school in October and helping the kids to make more goodies to take home to mom and dad. Watching Luke learn that God created the flowers and trees is worth more than words can say.
The other night, we were reading his pop-up Bible story book. He insisted that Moses didn't part the waters, Jesus did. And, that the man inside of the whale was NOT Jonah, it was Luke, of course! Nonetheless, the fact that he is just beginning to learn these stories is so precious to me. I can't wait to see him grow in Christianity and spirituality. This is so much fun!

"Jesus Loves Me"

I received a gift bag at church this past Sunday for helping teach Sunday school. It included a great CD with "Jesus Loves Me" and "He Walks with Me," my personal favorite. I am excited to be on board to co-teach the 2-year old class next year. Luke and I listen to our CD on the way home from school and he calls the "Jesus Loves Me" song, "his song." He made me repeat it today until he could sing the words in tune. My heart just melted away! Jesus does great things when you let him flood your life.

Asbury Preschool Party
Today, Luke and I went to our church's preschool party. All of the kids thoroughly enjoyed the bouncie house, slide, etc. I couldn't get Luke to come out of the bouncie house. I also got to hang out with other moms who happen to be high school counselors. Fun was had by all, and we look forward to the next party to be hosted in August. Thanks Gavin and Kelly for hosting this for our kids.

Luke's Big Fish
Luke caught his first big fish yesterday at our church's fishing rodeo. Fun was had by all, especially Pops, who enjoyed teaching Luke how to fish. They caught five in all! Go Luke!
